Gang rape leads to fiery protests in Swarupnagar, Basirhat

Criminals at large yet; police apathetic

The whole of Swarupnagar within the Basirhat subdivision of North 24 Paraganas district and not Dattapara only, where the heinous gang rape of Saraswati Samanta (name changed) occurred, is raging against the apathy of the administration and its failure to nab the criminals including Rinku Gazi and Saiful Mandal till now. Locals have been witnessed to state if Hindus want to exist in Bengal they have to be soldiers henceforth. If truth be told, Swarupnagar has hit the headlines many times recently but either for violence or for rape. The area is virtually dominated by radical Muslim youths and Bangladeshi cow smugglers making it almost impossible for Hindu girl and women roam in the streets after dusk. Saraswati Samanta got married just six months back and on May 20, while returning to her paternal residence from the nearby market, she was grabbed midway. Her husband works and lives in outside Bengal.

It has been learnt, Rinku Gazi and Saiful Mandal made sexually explicit remarks while Saraswati was returning all alone. She got terrified, as a result but failed to avoid Rinku and Saiful who along with two other criminals took her to a poultry firm. She, as fresh reports have come, was raped by Rinku Gazi and Saiful Mandal repeatedly. When wounded Saraswati raised an alarm, local traders rushed to the spot that made the four criminals flee. Saraswati, later on, was admitted to the Basirhat municipality hospital for fast medical attention.  Saraswati Samanta lodged an FIR against the criminals. Her medical test was done on Wednesday that proved the claim of gang rape.

Now, the whole of Swarupnagar is tense and enraged residents have come to streets to protest against this precarious incident. The protest has become general and is not limited to any political party. All, including men and women, young and old, adolescent girls to elder women are reproaching the state’s administration without any compunction. According to them, Basirhat and also Swarupnagar have turned into hotspot where mafia gangs and criminals, comprising Islamists and cow smugglers from Bangladesh, reign supremely while the local police is either found indifferent or a mute spectator to burgeoning crimes.

Finding no assurances from local police to nab culprits, general public in Dattapara joined the street marches spontaneously on Wednesday and blocked the Basirhat-Hakimpur road for hours. Large protests went on before the Swarupnagar police station as well and the emotion was so strong that local MLA, Beena Manadal failed to assuage the protestors. She had to leave ultimately and without success. Meanwhile, a few Trinamool Congress activists attacked a journalist when the Trinamool MLA was asked a few questions regarding religious polarization and fast deteriorating law and order in and around Swarupnagar. All these led to a huge trouble and to quell it, a large contingent of police with high-ranking police officials reached the place from Basirhat and assured people there of adopting necessary measures to nab the culprits. However, even if 24 hours have passed from the assurance provided by police, criminals are still at large prompting people to get more aggressive.

Grisly murder, injury haunts Hindus

Cow smuggling at the behest of criminals from Bangladesh entering the Indian mainland through the porous international border often and the havoc wreaked by them is known to all, let alone Bengal. But what astounds one is the illegality that has been unrestrained for ages and despite administration’s hallowed pledges to inhibit this threat to the national security, all remain same. How these criminals are secured and aggressive these days can be found from the ghastly murder of a constable of RPF, Nirmal Ghosh in his own home in the village of Angrail within Gaighata police station’s jurisdiction near Bangaon in the North 24 Paraganas district.

According to villagers, Nirmal Ghosh was killed by a team of cow smugglers hailing from Bangladesh on May 15, 2014, at night. While he was grabbed by the smugglers, his elder brother or Paran Ghosh tried best to save him. But as smugglers stabbed Paran also with choppers ferociously he ultimately failed to save his brother. Even if Paran Ghosh managed to save his life, he is admitted to the Bangaon hospital and is in a critical condition.  Hindu women in the family were not spared from molestation also, common trait of daily life here. Locals claim that above 200 criminals with lethal weapons crossed the Ichamati River in the night to murder Nirmal fast.

As per sources, cattle smugglers from Bangladesh cross Ichamati River to enter the Indian mainland almost on a daily basis and this journey remains between Putkhali in Bangladesh to Angrail in Bengal and they prefer to tread residences of Hindus with cattle. All these are done to insult Hindus and to inflict a terror among them. Thanks to the apathy of administration, Hindus can’t protest even. What made Islamists target Nirmal and his family? As said by villagers, on May 14, while walking through the residential property of Nirmal Ghosh, Islamist smugglers pocketed his cell phone. Since Paran knew a few of these smugglers, they were asked to return the mobile phone without delay. On Wednesday at 10 pm, a few smugglers dared to attack Paran before his own residence and when he raised an alarm, neighboring Hindus rushed to his residence and got hold of one criminal red-handed. Dreaded cattle smugglers could not accept this defeat by a Kafir Hindu and so around 11 pm on May 15, more than 200 radical Muslim criminals and cattle smugglers with lethal weapons crossed the Ichamati River and attacked the Ghosh family.

Their sole intention was to wipe off the entire Hindu family and this can be discerned from the wave of attacks. Making use of darkness, Islamists went on firing indiscriminately and injured Paran Ghosh with a sharp weapon. Despite BSF personnel were informed, assailants left the place prior to their arrival. Albeit injured Paran Ghosh managed to save his life, Nirmal Ghosh turned into an easy prey to attacks. Soon, his senseless body was found in the field and once villagers took him to the Bangaon municipality hospital, he was declared as brought dead. Arindam Mukherjee, officer-in-charge of Gaighata police station carried out an investigation in the night. Locals blocked the Ramnagar Road in the vicinity on May 16 demanding arrest of criminals. Investigation is going on still. But the future of Nirmal Ghosh’s widow and his bereaved children remains unknown.

Undoubtedly, neither the Bengal government has the will nor the capacity to forbid cattle smuggling and its custodians from neighboring Bangladesh to enter India. The onus, therefore, is on the incumbent government at the Center with pledges to bring pink revolution to a halt.

Pink Revolution ruins Bengal

Even if the thesis of “pink revolution” occupied the center stage in the Lok Sabha Election, 2014, truly no state other than Bengal has experienced its nastiest dimension with consequences yet. The notion was brought forth in this year by none except Narendra Modi, existing Prime Minister of India and precisely, his every description suits to the present rot that has already set in Bengal. Pink revolution in short denotes the color of flesh when animals are slaughtered and here it is of bovine flesh or of cattle whose smuggling has already cast an awful influence in the state. An assortment of reports as well as government’s documents ascertain that cow smuggling in areas alongside the India-Bangladesh international border has turned into a highly organized crime industry and thanks to relentless efforts of crime syndicates abetted by the local administration’s silence, this network of smuggling is highly profit-making and if experts are believed, profits worth of millions of dollars are made every year. The margin of profit is also on the rise.

The entire network of smuggling is conducted by Islamists backed by several radical Muslim outfits. Hindus are also found in this trade but they are minuscule in number and are engaged to earn a two square meal only. Consumption of beef is sacrilegious to Hindus but wretchedness compels them to do so. Poverty and hunger remain unrestrained always and it sufferers become the earliest victims of crime also.  There has been a spate in cow smuggling in the last few years and pundits pin the blame on UPA government’s fanciful idea to reduce the number of deaths in the international border. With this end in view, Border Security Force (BSF) was deprived from firing a single shot and the order has strengthened this appalling trade only. What has been the role of local administration? Without doubt, it is worst and people believe that almost all in administration have been overwhelmed by large baits of money. Again, honest officers are scared that any definite approach to stop smuggling or nab the smugglers may earn displeasure of Bengal’s Chief Minister, engaged in blatant Muslim appeasement for all time.

What are its consequences on local Hindus? While administration is overwhelmed by money, Hindus are the worst sufferers. Sexually explicit remarks are hurled on Hindu girls and women; molestation of Hindu women is also rising alarmingly. It is known to all that Hindus are religiously against maltreatment of bovine animals and even though cows are treated brutally, e.g. cows are made swallow copper sulphate (CuSo4), large needles pierce their flesh, Hindus can’t even protest. If anyone dares to protest, female members of his family suffer most. Many such incidents have already taken place and since criminals can run into Bangladesh easily they have none to fear. Islamists are often found to aver proudly, “Hindus can keep their cattle in BSF camp, money and jewelry in banks but have no place to save their women. So, if they want to save women, Hindus must not disturb us.”

None has forgotten how Muslim cow smugglers blocked roads and railways paralyzing the administration virtually for hours following the death of four Muslim cow smugglers at Bangaon-Chakdaha road in Sialdanga area, P.S. Gopalnagar, District: 24 Paraganas (South) on November 24, 2012.

Leftist Hindu leader fails to evade Islamists; battered cruelly

No immediate relief from mounting political oppressions is being found in the state these days; neither the reigning Trinamool Congress is letting its opponents heave a sigh of relief nor the parties in the opposition are sparing each other. Rising violent disturbances have brought forth another horror as well; in the majority of turmoil, if not more, Hindus have become the sole targets while Islamists remain busy to assail them as henchmen of oppressing parties. The reality portraying the horrid picture of Bengal is enough to send a shudder through the spine and, Samar Saha, wealthy farmer living in the village of Dhalla within Budhigram area, Margram police station’s jurisdiction in the district of Birbhum, is in despair at present.

Samar Saha, it has been found, is the local committee secretary of Forward Bloc while his wife Purnima Saha is an Anganwadi worker. On May 18, at 11 am, Prasenjit Saha, son of Samar Saha, was returning from their agricultural fields in Budhigram. However, he had a brief tussle midway with a few drunk Muslim youths living in the neighboring village of Imamnagar. Prasenjit informed his father; Samar Saha reached the place soon and tried to calm the Muslim youths down. But it failed to have any response and aged Samar Saha was also insulted. Finding no other option, he phoned Kalam Sheikh, his friend and also head of the local Panchayat. The phone went on ringing; both of them returned silently.

What followed next was nothing except a disaster. At 7 pm, a complete hell was unleashed on the Hindu family by a group of Islamists led by Sheikh Alam (Congress member of the Panchayat) and Kalam Sheikh (old friend of Samar Saha). The group comprised 50 armed Muslim assailants who asked for Prasenjt at the outset. Samar had already asked Prasenjit to hide in a room and this act worsened the situation more. Furious at this defiance, Samar Saha was assaulted ferociously by Islamist henchmen and he started bleeding profusely soon. His head was struck by an iron rod. Women were also not spared; Purnima Saha was manhandled and if villagers are believed, she was molested virtually. Once neighboring Hindus turned up there and started defending, the group fled but prior to that they ransacked the residence of Swapan Mal, another Hindu individual, also.

As stated by sources, Kailash Mal (Congress member of village Panchayat) had learnt of developments in the morning and hadpremonition of another spate of attack in the same evening also. He assured Sheikh Alam to deal with the issue all alone and ask Prasenjit to beg mercy. Islamists were against any such amiable act and this got proved when they attacked the family to teach Hindus in the neighborhood a lesson.

A team of police from the Margram police station visited the spot later on and sent Samar Saha and his wife to the nearby hospital. An FIR was also lodged against Sheikh Alam, Kamal Sheikh and their accomplices but none of the culprits has been arrested yet. Even if neighboring Hindus are upset at this development, it is also undeniable that Samar Saha had a good relation with these Islamists also. On May 20, Tapan Ghosh, president of Hindu Samhati, as a part of his programs in Rampurhat, went to the residence of Samar Saha in the village of Dhalla and asked Hindus to fortify an active resistance to prevent more attacks in the offing.

Love Jihad leads to Sexual Exploitation

It was a fad once; nowadays it is getting more and more frantic and its pace is also surpassing strides of worst dreams even. The saga is spreading like a cancerous disease across the country worrying parents of their daughters’ future most. Any guess? The future of Love Jihad is known to all and this is inevitable for any Hindu girl.  Either the love saga will lead her to prostitution or any vile business; albeit in most cases it ends with the life of Hindu victims. Yet, the chronicle is repeated in almost every alley of the country and certainly Bengal is no exception or else Swati (name changed) would have led a healthy life.

Swati hails from the town of Hili within the Balurghat division in the district of South Dinajpur in Bengal. Being an eligible and also intelligent girl, she completed her MA and started working for a multinational drinks company in Siliguri, a prominent town in the northern part of the state. In due course, she got familiar with Mohammed Dilwar, owner of a mobile repairing shop in the town and the acquaintance led to a love affair followed by a marriage on November 1, 2013. She started to live in her husband’s residence at Ashrafnagar, ISKCON Mandir Road. Contrary to her expectations, life started to change soon. She was compelled to abandon the job and to have physical affairs with her in-laws, especially elder and younger brothers of her husband. Since each act happened under Mohammed Dilwar’s strict observation, she had no opportunity to term those as rape. Mohammed Kamal, Dilwar’s brother-in-law is another culprit. According to her version (to the police), people including her husband used to have physical affairs with her and almost on a regular basis. She, if truth be told, was turned into a sex slave and this horrendous affair went for more than six months at a stretch.

Swati got sick as a result but the family’s strict observation prevented her from breaking out. It has also been learnt, women in the family used to keep a close watch on her as well. At long last, on May 23, she succeeded to come out of the house and sought help of Mohammed Illyas, secretary of Ashrafnagar Anjuman Ashrafiya committee who contacted Legal Aid Forum in the district of Darjeeling and also Sharmila Sharma, local councilor of Congress. Swati was admitted to a local hospital and doctors there have kept under watch for an indefinite period. Swati lodged a FIR against her in laws on the same night of May 23 based on which her husband, his three elder and younger brothers were arrested. They are Mohammed Dilwar, Mushtaq Hussain, Mohammed Zahid and Saddam Hussain. Both her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, engaged to keep her under surveillance, were also taken into custody. Swati has stated that several friends of his husband had raped as her as well. And all these took place at the behest of her husband, Mohammed Dilwar.

According to last reports, Legal Aid Forum will provide Swati legal help in every capacity.

Hindu exodus from Sandeshkhali……….sole option?

Administration panics while Islamists flex muscles

While the heartrending, monumental endeavors of Hindus across India succeeded through the ascension Team Modi in the throne of power with the sole aspiration that Hindu polity would prevail all, fates of Hindus in Bengal remain grisly as ever before. This macabre reality came forth on May 27 again when villagers inhabiting Halderpara and Gayenpara within the Sandeshkhali police station’s jurisdiction in the district of North 24 Paraganas were thrashed brutally by a gang of local Trinamool Congress-backed culprits for daring to join the celebration of ascension with the rest of India on the day before.

On May 27, at 9.30 am, a group comprising almost 15 hooligans, purportedly instructed by Shahjahan Sheikh, infamous Trinamool leader in the vicinity and also sub-head of Sarberia Panchayat, stormed the residence of Dhananjay Baul at Gayenpara. It is worth mentioning, Dhananjay Baul is an activist of Hindu Samhati and he played a gallant role to pick the role of Islamists in the rape of a Hindu girl at Jhupkhali of late. Since Dhananjay was not present then, his younger brother or Mrityunjay Baul was grabbed and thrashed mercilessly by the radicals. Tapan Sardar, another Hindu individual living in adjoining Halderpara, was also pounded brutally. The sudden development proved to be more than enough to infuriate local Hindus and as a part of protest, they were soon found to block the main road between Kolkata and Dhamakhali at the crosswalk of Rampur Haldergheri. It has also been learnt, villagers also allegedly detained Bappaditya Mandal, Haji Biswas and Bimal Halder who attacked Mritunjay Baul & Tapan Sardar in their respective villages.

Unlike incidents of bashing Hindus, local police station of Sandeshkhali geared up fast now and sent a team of police personnel to both quell the furious protest and remove the blockade. Policemen had a tough time to assuage the peeved mob and after public were assured of adoption of stringent measures against perpetrators, the road blockade was withdrawn and attackers were also released. But contrary to expectations, it was not the end and a hell was soon unleashed on local Hindus. An individual named Haji Biswas phoned Shahjahan Sheikh at this time and within the next few minutes, 3 vehicles jammed with assailants wielding lethal weapons turned up and went on ravaging the area. While bombs were hurled and shots were fired randomly, a few hooligans were also seen to charge Hindus with swords.  Owing to the spate of attacks including indiscriminate firing, 26 villagers suffered injuries while Samir Ghosh, one police officer, was struck a bullet in his eye.

Harmed villagers including women were admitted to the local Khulna Block Hospital initially. Thirteen of them were released after initial treatments while the remaining ones with critical injuries were shifted to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. They include Gautam Gayen, Prabhas Gayen, Mantu Sardar, Gostho Gayen, Bonkumar Sardar, Manik Sardar, Dholok Gayen, Mrityunjay Baul, Tapan Sardar, Satya Sardar, Ajay Gayen and others.

A grave tension dominates the area; even if RAF has been deployed there, Hindus are yet to come out of the shock. Dreaded criminals who took part in the attack including Akhtar Mir, Jiyarul Mullah and Siddique Mullah are yet to be arrested and if locals are counted on, no arrest will happen ever since Sandeshkhali has turned into the fiefdom of Shahjahan Sheikh and administration happens to be the foremost casualty there.

Fearless Activism not Constitutionalism saves Hindus

On May 28, 2014, in the morning a Hindu girl (age 11 years), living in the area of Raghunathganj in the district of Murshidabad, was gang-raped by  a group of persons including Bapan Sheikh, Pande Sheikh and Motahar Sheikh and it has been learnt, culprits were abetted by residents of Bahadidanga village. Due to the failure of police to arrest any culprit, a complete chaos ruled the area soon followed with plundering of a culprit’s house by the irate mob. A deep tension continues to dominate the area while the administration is on high alert. Again, a few days back a girl student of Class V was gang-raped by three youths at the area within Raghunathgunj police station’s jurisdiction in Murshidabad district while she was driving cows into the barn. While the girl is in a critical condition at the Jangipur Municipal Hospital, a police picket has been deployed in the area.

On May 20, Saraswati Samanta (name changed) became victim to the lust of two dreaded criminals named Rinku Gazi and Saiful Mandal at Swarupnagar within the Basirhat subdivision of North 24 Paraganas district. Saraswati, a young lady and married six months back, was grabbed by a few outlaws including the abovementioned two criminals midway. She was taken to a poultry firm nearby and was gang-raped afterwards. Albeit she cried for help and local traders rushed to the spot to save her, culprits had fled by then. She lodged an FIR but culprits are yet to be nabbed. Medical examination has also confirmed the incidence of gang-rape.

The brutal murder of Nirmal Ghosh, Railway Police Force jawan, of late by cow smugglers from neighboring Bangladesh mercilessly at his own home in the village of Angrail within Gaighata police station’s jurisdiction near Bangaon in the North 24 Paraganas district speaks of the rot vehemently that started with the minority appeasement of Lefts and is robust by now as the reigning Trinamool Congress has found it as the basis of prolonged success. The recent landslide of Trinamool Congress in Parliamentary Election, 2014 has proved its worth yet again. The election has also emanated another perilous verity – unless one gets the confidence of Islamists in Bengal, it’s hard for them to retain success, let alone ruling the state. Accordingly, tortures on Hindus in the state are on the rise. A close analysis evidences that in the ongoing spate of clashes Hindus have been victims always while Islamists at any front happen to be the aggressors. Whether it is ravishment of Saraswati or adolescent Hindu girls or even the brutal murder of Nirmal Ghosh, these are no stray incidents but a deeper contemplation and harder effort can bring forth hundreds of other such instances.

What can Hindus do at this juncture of history? Should it go on depending on the center of power at New Delhi or grab hard-nosed decisions to retain own existence in the state? If views of political pundits and also Hindu activists are considered, the second one happens to be the more suitable option. And as per them, limitations of constitutionalism have often been found to stage the hardest obstacle to activism time and again. Fiery Hindu resistances, at times, in Bengal have also portrayed how the administrative biases can be stopped and victories be won.

Time to set examples in Sandeshkhali, not precepts

Heartiest congratulations must be conveyed to the national delegation of BJP at the outset to make a visit to the worst terror-hit Sandeshkhali within the Basirhat division of North 24 Paraganas district on May 31, 2014. The team from New Delhi including premier leaders like Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi or national vice president of BJP, Meenakashi Lekhi – BJP spokesperson, two elected MPs from the state SS Alhuwalia, Babul Supriyo along with state leaders like Rahul Sinha – president of BJP Bengal unit and Samik Bhattacharya took pains to tread the wetlands and determine the reasons leading to the relentless onslaughts on hapless people there, mainly who hoped to see a better future by voting for Narendra Modi at the Centre this time. The team, later on, also went to the SSKM hospital in Kolkata to witness the disquieted victims of onrush on May 27. A memorandum was also submitted to Sanjay Mitra, Chief Secretary of Bengal Government at Nabanna, to adopt strict measures to halt all forms of murderous attempts.

The trouble, as already reported in this blog, had taken place on May 27 at 9.30 am when Islamists, believed to be henchmen of Shahjahan Sheikh, Trinamool leader and sub-head of Sarberia Panchayat but above all the Kingpin, stormed villages inhabited by Hindus mainly. Police preferred to retain its muteness and watch the fun while bombs were hurled and shots were fired randomly and Hindus were attacked by sword-wielding criminals repeatedly. The spate of attacks led to the injury of 26 Hindus and also of a police official named Samir Ghosh who lost sight in one eye allegedly by a bullet injury. While 13 hurt people were released after initial medical attentions from the local Khulna Block Hospital, others afflicted with graver injuries were shifted to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. The BJP leadership met some of them including Dholok Gayen, Mrityunjay Baul, Tapan Sardar, Satya Sardar and Ajay Gayen.

While women were narrating their experiences due to ghastly attacks on the very day, Meenakshi Lekhi charged both the local and state administration stating, "Why hasn't Shahjahan Sk been arrested? Why hasn't the law on SC-STs been invoked here? Is this how the Mamata Banerjee government treats backward classes? If the Commission here doesn't investigate it, we will go to the national commission." Similar rhetoric were found from other leaders too who left the place posing stern warnings that any more aggression against inhabitants in Sandeshkhali would bring a great trouble for Trinamool Congress only. A report, in this regard, will also be submitted to the Central Government.

Whether the tough postures would scare Trinamool Congress or help it to discern the reality is a different issue but it’s also true that victims in Sandeshkhali were attacked for being Hindus and not casting votes for Narendra Modi simply. If truth be told, Hindus in Sandeshkhali have always been at the receiving end for years at a stretch and the sole factor inviting assaults at regular intervals has been their religious identity. Contemporary Islamist boss like Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates were with CPIM and Left Front till its historic debacle in Bengal Assembly Election, 2011. The ascension of Trinamool Congress rendered them a new option to conduct their anti-Hindu approaches or Jihad. Is it possible for any Hindu inhabiting Mogrgahat Block in South 24 Paraganas district to forget the tortures of Islamists at the behest of Selim, vanguard of CPIM?

More and more incidents suggest that virtually no difference exists between theory and praxis of Islamism in Bengal while flags are changed at every opportune moment. Democratic institutions, its worth are dwindling in the state fast; hence, mere caveats against Islamists and their taskmasters have become futile already. If one is set to save Hindus in Bengal, he/she must follow paces of Mother Kunti in Mahabharata who vowed to invoke Sri Krishna and Balaram with their Narayani Sena to save her five sons from the clutch of depraved Kuru dynasty.

Populist, pacifist approaches can’t stop illegal infiltration from Bangladesh

Central Government has to save Bengal with Iron Fist

It has come to knowledge, Ministry of Home Affairs in the Indian state of Bengal, at the behest of Home Ministry of the Central Government at New Delhi, has geared up to return illegal infiltrators from the neighboring country of Bangladesh to India and accordingly, it has instructed District Magistrate of the District of North 24 Paraganas to adopt measures needful. According to fresh reports, 393 such infiltrators are stationed in the DumDum Central Jail and they will be returned soon. They will be handed over to the officials of Border Guard Bangladesh or BGB and the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata has also been apprised of the same. These people, as said by sources in the ministry, entered India at different times from Jessore, Jhilaidaha, Satkhira and other districts in Bangladesh located alongside its international border with India.

Without doubt, these approaches evince the NDA government’s determination and also its urge to fulfill pledges to halt mounting infiltration as annunciated in its own electoral manifesto. However, thousands of miles have to be trodden more to save Eastern part of India, especially Bengal, from the scourge of illegal infiltration.

According to statistics of Bengal Government, no less than 2, 000 illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh are living in the reformatories at Baharampur. They had been arrested followed by incarceration for years and once their prison terms are finished, they will be returned to Bangladesh. And this will be the norm henceforth while BSF and other units bordering India-Bangladesh international border have already been ordered to adopt sterner measures to repel any urge to infiltrate India. What the Central Government has done thus far is an out and out democratic approach abiding by existing international legislation. What’s of those inhabiting India for years already? The question is indeed vital as millions of illegal infiltrators are already here. They have been instrumental in changing local demography highly and by now, a considerable section of them is already on the move across different states in India.

It has got to be accepted that the India-Bangladesh international border has remained bereft of Central Government’s attention for decades and thanks to this sluggishness and sloppy approaches, the entire area has turned into a bane. And the whole of Eastern India, especially Bengal, has turned into a casualty gradually. This apathy has been fortified by the vile intention of a debased political tradition to retain power by forming a pet vote bank through illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh.

This debasement commenced by the Lefts in the early 1980s has grown to be a huge mass of people or vote bank having enough capacity to influence and also alter Bengal’s political scenario fairly. No political party including Trinamool Congress or its mighty supremo can dare to upset it risking own political fundament.

If the Central Government is steadfast to quash this nemesis or national crisis in every capacity, it shall have to bust the local rackets involved in bringing illegal Muslim infiltrators at all times. To tell the truth, commonality in languages and other attributes, graces of local leaders expressed through rendering infiltrators by Voter Cards or Ration Cards fast, makes it almost impossible to detect infiltrators. But, success can be gained still if iron fist is used to solve the crisis.

Lefts gearing up to take on Hindus in Bengal

When the sole objective is to halt the forward march of Hindus in Bengal, evidenced befittingly thorough the Saffron wave in the Lok Sabha Election of late and ending with upsetting dreams of scores of Goliaths, Lefts can’t remain idle and abiding by their hallowed maxims to confront Hindus always, they are gearing up finally. And this novel brigade will not be the fiefdom of anyone in particular but for all comrades whose single destination is to harm Hindus and retain silence when the same people are pounded by radical Muslims hither and thither in the state.  The countdown for final combat has already begun, therefore, and its dress rehearsal took place on June 2 at Y Channel located in Esplanade, Kolkata under the close supervision of Communist-turned-Islamist-turned-spokesperson of Dalit Muslim nexus-turned-neo-Democrat Rezzaq Mollah.

The grand meeting of radical Lefts under the banner of “Save Democracy, Save Secularism” in Bengal was spearheaded by arch-communists like Prasenjit Bose and Maidul Islam along with Rezzaq Mollah. While Preasenjit Bose was the convener of CPIM’s research unit till two years back but expelled from the party for questioning the leadership’s decision to support UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential elections, Maidul Islam happens to be the research scholar at Oxford University and both are found to pen illuminating articles regarding the need of perspicuous vision for Left movement in India. Well, even if no party representative of Left Front partners turned up finally, emissaries of diminutive parties including PDS, CPIML (Liberation) and others were found to join with elation. Nevertheless, scores of umbrageous Leftist youths from all parties attended the event. What followed next was nothing but castigating the mounting influence of Saffron mythos in the state and advices to the local populace of how to steer clear of this pernicious influence for their own betterment.

Without doubt, the event, if political pundits are counted on, has conveyed a new message to the disgruntled, lamentable Lefts in the state and asked them to reunite under a new banner to both pick and harm the newest saga of nationalism or Hindu Nationalism relishing its surge in Bengal after decades, if not more. It has been learnt, albeit there was a trifling presence of cadres from larger Left parties, their rising presences are being expected in the following conventions highly. Youth leaders like Zico dasgupta representing DSF, student organization at Jawaharlal Nehru university (JNU) was also present on the occasion to get a new dimension in the near future.

The stage, hence, is set to launch a new spate of attacks on Hindus in Bengal, reeling under relentless onslaughts of Islamists while the chronic apathy of administration plagues them more. Following the Lok Sabha Election, 2014 there has been an unprecedented growth to persecutions on Hindus across districts in Bengal and what stuns most, even if incidents are painted with political colors, the majority of incidents entails Hindu victims and Islamist assaulters. There has been no Left or human rights representative to these villages suffering Islamic onslaughts neither there is any such hope in future also. Lefts are pained to discern that their own demesne has been usurped by Saffronites with an overwhelming support of people; now, they want to settle a score.

Didi revels while Hindus suffer more

Shielded by the reigning government, radical Muslims are hell-bent to pound on Hindus and also to teach them a lesson for daring to cast their votes for saffron wave and with this end in view, the latest target of their offensives has been Balanpur within Jamuria in Asansol subdivision of Bardhaman district. The entire area remained witness to a spate of attacks on June 3 (Tuesday) in the night when hundreds of bombs were hurled by unidentified assailants (according to many) but by the same group of Islamists, claimed by others as well. The attack took place even if pickets and patrolling of police were in full swing and policemen were present in the streets at that time. The audaciousness expressed by culprits thus has terrorized Hindus in the area highly even if police is trying best to deny any such incident on Tuesday.

The incident brings forth the same question again – whether the aggression was thoroughly unanticipated. Even if a few policemen, on condition of anonymity, are found to support this theory, violent opposition to the same is coming from the area itself. According to locals in Balanpur, on Monday, in the night, violent struggles took place between cadres of BJP and Trinamool Congress leading to the fatal injury of nine Hindu individuals. While the shop and residence of a BJP supporter was ransacked, plundering of three more houses along with indiscriminate firing and bombing took place at the behest of the reigning party.  Infamous radicals happened to be the vanguard of the belligerent group, in accordance with local people. Though Babul Supriyo, newly elected MP of BJP from Asansol, went to the affected areas to take stock of the situation, there has been no substantial development yet. Locals anticipated that there would be a violent challenge to this visit and it rocked the entire area on the next day. All these prove that no attack in Balanpur is unexpected but the fallout of a grievous strategy to uproot Hindus in the area en masse.

What did happen on Tuesday? As stated by dwellers in Balanpur, the infamous bike brigade of Trinamool Congress patrolled the area for at least 15 minutes, hurled lots of bombs as a mark of warning to people there and left ultimately. How could this brigade evade the police patrolling the whole area and enter Balanpur once more? There has been no satisfactory answer to this question from the administration yet.

On Tuesday, criminals of Trinamool Congress beat hollow a number of Hindu individuals living in the village of Bandipur within Haripal in the district of Hooghly. On the word of locals, they were attacked during a meeting at the residence of Haripal Mandal in Bamunjol. The attackers went on a rampage virtually; while five injured persons were admitted to the Chandannagore municipal hospital, eight motorbikes were also crushed.

This happens to be the crude reality in the state while beloved “Didi” remains busy to felicitate the victorious Kolkata Knight Riders team in Eden Gardens and enjoy the subsequent celebration there. While all these were going on, a large mass of people were found to suffer immensely for trying to enter the same venue for enjoyment. But these entire plights failed to impress “Didi” who reveled the entire celebration and left venue afterward.

Will any delegation to meet this modern incarnation of Nero bring about peace, save Hindus in the state?

Need of Regimentation within Hindus

$

Even if the rapture among Hindus across the country goes on over ascension of the saffron party to the center of power in New Delhi and a considerable number of Hindus consider “Sukher Din Samagato”/”Acche Din Aagayen”/Better Days are Neabry, the reality is quite opposite and to a great extent, it is indeed cruel. Definitely the chronicle of pseudo-secularism and tradition of appeasing Islamists have suffered a terrible setback due to the saffron landslide of late but the cruel reality is – they have not vanished but have retreated only. These precarious forces will never lose any opportunity to strike back at the opportune moment.  Hence, it’s the time to get cautious. The post-election scenario in Bengal brings forth the horror. Hindus have virtually been battered for casting their votes in favor of saffron wave and in each case, Islamists and their henchmen have been the attackers. The spate of terrorism against Hindus in the state goes on unabated yet.

The need to retain and also strengthen Hindus is rising steadily. It’s the time to redraw strategies and opt for an offensive mode. It is no secret that exploiting the Theological Doctrine of Universalism or “Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah/Sarve Santu Nir-Aamayaah/Sarve Bhadraanni Pashyantu/Maa Kashcid-Duhkha-Bhaag-Bhavet/Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih” literally meaning Om, May All become Happy/May All be Free from Illness/ May All See what is Auspicious/May no one Suffer/Om Peace, Peace, Peace, intrinsic to Hinduism from time immemorial all antagonistic doctrines are expanding their vicious tentacles by leaps and bounds. While the menace of Evangelism is all set to devour the whole of South India, rising illegal infiltration of Islamists from Bangladesh to Bengal with other states of Eastern India poses a serious challenge. It is no secret that Islamists dream of wresting the whole of Eastern India through onslaughts on Hindus; fast demographic changes and its promotions are being felt highly already.

Therefore, it’s the time to inculcate eternal Hindu principles among all, men and women, young and old.  Without doubt, consumerism under the camouflage of liberalism is also a leading threat to Hindu ethics. A new law must be introduced on a national scale to institute regimentation among Hindus. Regimentation will bring forth rigorous laws compelling Hindus to show loyalty to own religious views in public; any such show plays a great role to dispose of their gutlessness.

The new laws would compel Hindus to visit temples or Hindu missions nearby and make them express their loyalty to religion and help them to get more righteous.  Through these measures, Hindus will know their own religion or Dharma much better and won’t have to travel in alleys of wisdom or seek advices from others to opt for the right way between Dharma and Adharma (immorality), Ahimsa (non-violence) and Himsa (violence). Mantra 10.191.2 in Rigveda states convincingly “Sangachadvam Samvadadvam sam vo manaamsi janatham/Deva bhagam yatha poorve sanjanana mupasathe” meaning O you men!  You join and live together.  Talk to each other with love. Let all your minds be common Just as the way the noble men have been doing their duties   you also do your duties similarly.

“Ahimsa Paramo Dharma/Dharma himsa tathaiva cha” meaning Non-violence is the ultimate dharma. So too is violence in service of Dharma

“Agrataschaturo vedah prushthatah sasharam dhanuh | idam brahmamidam kshatramshapadapi sharadapi” – Bhargav Sutra

Meaning: - A person having four vedas (knowledge) in front (to guide him), a bow and arrow (power) at his back (to back him) has a combination of “Brahmyam” and Kshatram” and hence he is capable of defeating the enemy either by "Shapa" (Power of Knowledge) or "Shara" (Knowledge of Power) Thus, the aim is to impart “Power of Knowledge” and “Knowledge of Power” in the youth.

Kamduni writhes in pain after one year still

Maimed soul of Shipra craves Justice

With June 7, 2014, the horrendous gang rape and murder of Shipra Ghosh, daughter of Sukumar Ghosh and a student of BA (2nd year) at Baguiati Derozio College, at infamous Kamduni gets a year older. On the same day – June 6, 2013, the hapless girl, while returning from Lake Town College after examination, was abducted midway, gang raped and murdered by a group of radical Muslims in her own village of Kamduni, within the jurisdiction of Barasat police station (then) and the district of North 24 Paraganas. Shipra, according to her parents and also neighbors, was docile and used to find solace in books only.  But she turned out to be the most unfortunate dupe to lust of a group of Islamists who pounced down on her all of a sudden.

Reiteration of the gruesome episode pains this scribe but since it’s necessary to narrate the wounded human psyche, the gist is being rendered here once again. Reports do confirm that Shipra was bypassing the spot at 2.30 pm when Islamists including Ansar Ali, Enamul and Rezzaq were consuming alcohol. In a blink of an eye the innocent girl was clutched by the ruffians, taken to the nearby Narkelbagan (a large vacant space enclosed by brick walls on all sides); she was raped there repeatedly and was also murdered. Later on, the dead body was thrown to the dam close at hand and the murderers left.

The corpse was identified in the same evening by her anxious brothers, parents and also neighbors setting off a huge commotion among locals. Initially, outsiders to the village were held accountable for the tragedy and the berserk mob, as a result, unleashed a spate of destruction. The sloppy approaches of local police stations enraged the mob more. The corpse was grasped by the police; subsequent investigations also found out the culprits that led to a furor across Bengal over the security of women in the state. The tragedy also hit national headlines inviting the wrath of human rights organizations and particularly of Hindu Samhati. Activists of Hindu Samhati on June 11 conducted a fiery protest, road blockade along with the victim’s brother intensifying the dissent further. Albeit citizens burst into protests, the administration remained silent and made efforts to calm the agitating parents, brothers down. Efforts to bribe them even went on secretively. The visit of Mamata Banerjee, Bengal’s Chief Minister, after 10 days of the incident, to the ill-fated family’s residence increased troubles more as she ran into a heated argument with the women protesters.

Now, after one year, everything in the area remains same while the economic affluence can be found in the victim’s family thanks to government’s blessings. Women in the area remain scared still, no new lamppost has been introduced to succor them. While a police camp has been put up in Shipra’s ancestral village, Barasat police has been divided into four newer police stations and Kamduni has been transferred to the Rajrahat police station’s jurisdiction at the command of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, justice for Shipra remains a dream still due to legal complications. Now, the judicial process is going on in Bankshall Court, Kolkata. However, villagers in Kamduni refuse to draw back and are banking on Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, for justice.

Basirhat turns into Rape Zone

If the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Bengal have become most hideous paradigms of ravishment, the subdivision of Basirhat in the North 24 Paraganas district of Bengal can surely claim the title of Rape Zone as another such brazen incident occurred here on June 3 or last Tuesday. The incident took place in the village of Uttar (North) Bagundi where the victim woman used to live with her two-year old daughter in a makeshift hut behind the railway track. It has been learnt from both local as well as police sources, the woman tied the knot in the village of Chanpapukur and her husband is a cook by profession. So, he, as part of the job, remains outside for days. Again since the victim’s parents live in Andaman, she had no option except to live in her uncle’s hut in Uttar Bagundi village behind the Basirhat-Hasnabad railway track. The entire measure was adopted for her security ruined by a group of criminals including Nurul Amin Mollah, Arif Mollah, Sheikh Maina alias Hafiullah and Utpal Mandal on Tuesday.

On the word of victim, on June 3, she was with her little daughter in the hut as other members of the family had gone to attend an invitation. It was 11 pm when the hut’s door was broken and the aforesaid criminals, also her cousin’s friend, entered all of a sudden. When she asked the reason, culprits warned her with a dagger, fastened her with a rope and raped her repeatedly. Hearing a noisy disturbance, the neighboring family came outside. But they were threatened by wielding firearms; hence, they went back. The victim woman was threatened that any exposure of this would lead to dire consequences for her daughter also.

While speaking to police officials, she told that an extreme fear had prevented her from informing anyone, including her family members, of the violation. But her illness, owing to the ravishment, notified all of this disgraceful act. Once a police team led by Bhaskar Banerjee (Additional SP) went to the spot for investigation, locals informed them of burgeoning sexual assaults on women there. As per them, it is impossible for any woman to tread in the area after dusk. An FIR was lodged by the victim on June 6 in the evening. All culprits have been arrested, as per latest information, from their own residences in West Dandirhat and Bodo Jirafpur.

It has been claimed by police that culprits have admitted their crime. While the criminals have been sent to police custody for three days by the court, the victim has been sent to the Lilua Home in Howrah following her medical examination at Basirhat District Hospital.

It is worth mentioning that on May 20 Saraswati Samanta (name changed), a newly wed Hindu housewife, was gang-raped by two Islamist culprits named Rinku Gazi and Saiful Mandal at Dattapara within Swarupnagar in the same Basirhat subdivision triggering off an unruly protest followed by a huge disturbance in the area. While returning to her paternal residence from the nearby market, Saraswati Samanta was grabbed midway. It has come to knowledge, despite strong protests, there has been no justice yet.

Perhaps any such expectation is also an impulsive act especially when Kamduni is yet to have justice after one year of gang-rape and murder of Shipra Ghosh, student of BA (2nd year) on June 7, 2013.

Erosion of Saffron politics sets out in Bengal

$

To elucidate the present state of affairs regarding Saffron politics in Bengal, there is the need to emphasize the word confusionat the very outset. Even if the word refers to bewilderment also, its most apt representation happens to be a mental state characterized by a lack of clear and orderly thought and behavior. And this lack of clear vision or myopia is affecting the Saffron camp now. Lok Sabha election held of late has led to a new political arithmetic in the state; while Left has slumped stunningly and Trinamool Congress achieved a landslide, BJP has achieved a spate of support with bagging 17.5% vote share. The saga seems to be unbelievable for the party retaining a microscopic presence in Bengal till a few weeks back. But it is a hard reality and if everything gets perfect, BJP will emerge as a major power clique soon wielding the baton of a brawny opposition. With this end in view, the party is set to extend its tentacles; members from each social echelon is joining the party’s rank and file fast. Muslims are no exception as well.

Is the political demography in Bengal really on the verge of a historic change?  Or whether the party’s new connection will seal fate of Hindus once more? Hindus, if truth be told, seem confused a lot since they were mainly the people who opted for Modi ji defying all admonitions and risks to life. According to sources, the Bengal unit, hankering after power fast, is hell-bent to pass up the tag of Hindu communalism or Hindutva and the way members of minority cell of BJP wrangled with local police and administration against the murder of Sheikh Rahim, at Ilambazar in Birbhum, skepticism can rise up. And this skepticism is within Hindus found asserting that they will be betrayed yet again for authority.

As per studies, an exaggerated zeal is being found among Muslims to join BJP both for security and the high confidence that their community’s overwhelming presence in the state (Muslims form almost 30% of Bengal’s population) is enough to make the party congenial to them. There is another factor too, if political pundits are counted on. The Islamic community loves to hobnob with the authority always and since BJP appears unprejudiced to them, the party happens to be the best refuge for the time being. On the word of press and media, hundreds of Muslim families have already joined BJP in areas like Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar, Raigunj, Balurghat and Nadia and the number of new members is 50, 000 only in Jalpaiguri. The same fervor is found in South Bengal as well. Left cadres, disgruntled with the Left leadership and its flawed policies, are joining BJP in strength to challenge Trinamool Congress in future and with might.

Will these people help Hindus to create a strong destiny? The answer, if all facts are contemplated, is straight negative. They are joining the Saffron party to have share of rising success and not to help Hindus. Only on June 9 two Hindu youths were thrashed mercilessly by Arun Dey, leader of a CPM-controlled auto-rickshaw union till the last week but now a BJP leader, and his henchmen in Maniktala Main Road. These two youths played valiant roles to resist the Islamist design to erect an illegal mosque in Maniktala last year. Both are in critical conditions yet while locals are found to vent anger against BJP.

Spate of Terror following Election; A Few Questions

$

Results of 16 th Lok Sabha Election have brought forth a historic decision by Indians on the whole; NDA led by BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has achieved an astounding success through securing an absolute majority. If BJP is taken into consideration apart, the party has attained its biggest victory ever since its formation in 1980. What has been its impact in Bengal then? Even if BJP has been able to wrest two MP seats and also raise its voting share in the state considerably, Trinamool Congress by procuring 34 seats has also penned a historic success. What would be the fate of nation and state hence depends on BJP and TMC respectively; certainly Hindu Samhati is not related to it. But the reign of terror afflicting the state with a wave of bloodshed must be contemplated highly.

Right to Vote is a rational corollary of the Fundamental Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression and forms the basis of any successful democracy like India. You can capture the power only if you emerge victorious in the election and this basic notion is known to all political parties. That’s why, violence during election or following it is no new development in the Indian scenario. But the picture, at this time, is different in Bengal. On the word of political pundits and other experts, the minority vote bank has played a substantial role to the astounding success of Trinamool Congress in the state. Trinamool leadership agrees to this view also and exploiting this favorable situation, minority hooligans are inflicting the worst persecution on Hindus across the length and breadth of the state. Even if this is the cruel reality, criminals are trying to paint the rush of tortures on Hindus in a political color and Trinamool party’s flag is used hence rampantly. The situation at vast areas in the district of North and South 24 Paraganas, areas close to the international India-Bangladesh border, Usti, Falta, Mograhat, areas close to the international border in North Bengal is worst; Hindu villagers have become worst victims to relentless attacks of Islamists. Since Islamists are using TMC’s flags, administration is scared to keep them in custody. Shajahan Sheikh, Salim, Shaukat Mullah or Abdul Barik have become trusted lieutenants of TMC. Nevertheless, they used to be vanguards of CPIM during Left Front’s hegemony; it has got to be kept in mind. With the change of guard in 2011, these criminals also joined Trinamool brigade. Earlier they used to torment Hindus by using Red flags; now the same is being done with Trinamool Congress’ silent blessings. Hindus have no respite in rural Bengal. It’s the high-time for all to grasp this brutal truth.

It’s also the time for present rulers in Bengal to get hold of another truth; they didn’t emerge victorious with minority votes only. Had Hindus not supported them wholeheartedly, triumph would have continued to remain a victory for them. As a result, the state government must step in to save Hindus from Islamists as well as atrocities of police. Culprits, to be precise, ran amok in the areas of Haroa, Sandeshkhali, Usti, Mograhat and Bangaon for the last few days. Hindus are under a reign of terror there while many of them have fled as well. Police and administration must succor these helpless people and restore law fast.

There is no skepticism with the affection of Chief Minister to Bengal. But her imprudence has turned the rural Bengal to a casualty. While attacks on women are on the rise, lands in Bengal are being grabbed stealthily but steadily by hostile forces. Only the Chief Minister can save the state from such a crisis. She has an innate capacity to change courses of history. The same can be done here too but wisdom must be there at the same time. We do appeal to her to save Bengal.

Schoolgirl raped in Hosenabad, Hooghly

Crowd runs amok in protest

Hosenabad within the jurisdiction of the police station of Polba in the district of Hooghly following the public outrage from noon to evening on Thursday or June 12 is tensed yet and even if local police and administration has beefed up security measures, the infuriation refuses to die down. The problem started at 1 pm on Thursday when locals in large numbers blocked the crossway between the busy GT Road and Delhi Road all of a sudden demanding justice and arrest of Sheikh Niyamat Ali who had raped a schoolgirl named Sangita (name changed) on last Monday. The blockade continued till 6 pm disrupting the entire thoroughfare for the next few hours as well. The assailant’s stationery shop was first ransacked and then burnt down by the irate mob. Even if two fire brigade vans rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control, the furious mob stopped them from going on with the job. The blockade was withdrawn only when higher police officials reached the spot and assured the public of arresting the culprit soon.

It has been learnt from locals, Sheikh Niyamat Ali (age 45) used to have a stationery shop at Hosenabad behind the crossing of GT Road and Delhi Road. On June 9 or Monday, Sangita, a schoolgirl of Class IV and living at Majherpara within Hosenabad, went to his shop to purchase bubblegum. As none was there, Niyamat Ali asked her to get into the shop and the helpless and innocent girl was raped by him repeatedly. When her family members learnt the crime, an FIR was registered against him in the local police station of Polba. But the culprit had fled by that time. Strikingly, even if an FIR was lodged against such a heinous crime, police was found to be apathetic, enough to enrage locals in the area. On Wednesday, parents of Sangita along with locals visited the Superintendent of Police’s office for justice. It has come to knowledge, the mob was handled rudely there.

On Thursday, in the morning, locals along with parents of Sangita went to the Chinsurah Police Line to vent their anger against sloppy approaches of police. Then, they were joined by others and the demand for a quick justice intensified. As soon as the fuming mob returned, the road blockade at the crossway between the busy GT Road and Delhi Road initiated. They were found to demand justice and also reprimand police for failing to arrest the culprit or Niyamat Ali. Moreover, since Niyamat Ali’s relatives were warning Sangita’s parents with dire consequences, the protest reached a new height. Protestors were joined by others and soon, the shop of Niyamat Ali was plundered and burnt down. All materials from the shop including sugar, potatoes, rice were brought to the thoroughfare and set to fire.

To quell the fury, Tanmay Sarkar, DSP (Headquarters) rushed to the spot. But he could not achieve success. Later he was joined by Tathagata Basu, Police Super (Headquarters) and Debasree Sanyal, DSP (D&T). Albeit the police officers tried best to diffuse the anger and halt the blockade, locals could not be restrained. Only when Tathagata Basu assured the mob of arresting the culprit within next two days and before press and media, the blockade was lifted.  An intense search to arrest the culprit has begun.

Hindu Nationalism approaches fiasco in Bengal

Saffron urge for Islamists infuriates Hindus

Despite having its own minority outfit, BJP, at the moment, is depending more on Muslim Rashtriya Manch, initiated by Shri Indresh Kumar or Marg Darshak (mentor) in 2002 with the blessings of KS Sudarshan, then RSS supremo, to fortify  its influence among the Muslim community in Bengal. Even if people are already seen to frown on such weird initiatives of the Saffron party, denoted to be the paradigm of Hindu Nationalism to all, there is end to this newest saga apparently as people from all walks of life are yearning to join the party fast. Nevertheless, the desire to extend the nationalist tentacles among Muslims in Bengal is being felt most and this has been propelled by a single fact. As per a section of press and media, winning a considerable section of the minority community in the state may enliven BJP’s chances to turn into a principal party in the state fast.

With this end in view, Muslim Rashtriya Manch has been found to opt for more programs in the districts of Nadia, Coochbehar and North 24 Paraganas, known to be strongholds of minority Muslim community. No less than 1200 people living in the village of Pakshi (adjacent to the India-Bangladesh international border) within Block Karimpur 1 in the district of Nadia has joined Bharatiya Janata Party. Muslim individuals comprise the majority of this group. But when asked it was learnt that avoiding the mounting tortures of local Trinamool Congress cadres compelled them to switch over to the Saffron clique. The same trend has been found in other districts including North 24 Paraganas. Large numbers of people including Muslims joined BJP from CPIM of late.  When asked, Saffron leaders confided that no discrimination between Indians would be tolerated and as a result, all people are being invited to have the flavor true nationalism. Muslim Rashtriya Manch, ever since its formation, has been dedicated to this job and has attained stunning successes in many parts of the country. On the word of Mohammed Afzal, national convener of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, the outfit is working with vigor among 672 districts in 26 states across India and the outfit exists in almost 300 districts.

Will this experiment be successful in Bengal too? It can’t be told now but definitely Muslims are joining the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party in strength. And how the party’s state leadership is desirous to have this new force’s support emerged with its valorous approaches with the murder of Sheikh Rahim, a daily wage-earner in Birbhum district. Not only the party had sent off its state-level teams to probe the killing, it was also announced there that the party’s minority cell members would visit there again demanding justice against the heinous crime. A large rally was also organized in central Kolkata to protest this killing.

Are Hindus being shrugged off more and more? To many, it seems so as the core Hindu issues like illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi infiltrators, rendering “Refugee” status to persecuted Hindus from Bangladesh in India remain unheard yet. Even if such pledges were made with honesty (in fact), nothing of that sort is being heard now. Hindus have already been heard to state that by taking Hindu votes for granted, BJP is repeating the historic blunders made by Lefts lately. The voting power of Hindus in Bengal is enough to change the guard yet. Islamists are also joining the Saffron party through the open call; Hindu plights will go on as usual.

Hindu families evicted forcibly in Narayangunj, Bangladesh

Local Awami League leader leads culprits

Adding one more chapter to the harrowing narrative of ongoing religious persecution in Bangladesh, seven Hindu families, living in Panchabati, Fatulla in Narangunj Sadar Upazilla (sub-district headquarters) within the district of Narayangunj in the Dhaka division of Bangladesh, have been uprooted from the 150-year old zamindar (landlord) mansion in the area. They were uprooted without any notice and at the behest of a local Muslim leader of Awami League, reigning political party in the country castigated frequently by radical Muslim outfits for having an alleged secular viewpoint. Hindu members of the persecuted families are living in fields, as a result.

On the word of Kanan Bala Mandal, age 90 years and also a victim of forcible eviction, the mansion had been built 150 years ago by ancestors of a Hindu individual named Narayan Chandra Saha and this family happens to be the landlord at the moment. However, fearing attacks on Hindus during the struggle for liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, Narayan Chandra Saha, leaving 10 Hindu families of his employees in his residence, went to India. Following the war of 1971, 10 Muslim families intruded the mansion and started living there. She stated that Md. Shahidulllah, vice-president of Fatulla police station Awami League, occupied the third floor of the mansion after 1990 and started to inhabit there along with his whole family. He relocated later on.

As per the aged Hindu lady, Lokenath temple was established in the house almost 15 years back and altogether, 15 Hindu families used to inhabit there at that time. On June 14 or Saturday, following the instruction of Md. Shahidulllah, the same temple was destructed by a group of Muslims and on June 13, 3 Hindu families had been expelled forcibly. The Awami League leader was involved in destroying 5 buildings within the mansion as well as deracinating 4 Hindu families. The spate of destruction stopped once police reached the spot and requested them to discontinue

Nevertheless, Md. Shahidulllah, local leader of Awami League, has a different story altogether. In accordance with him, a person named Mannan had bought 20 shatak land from Narayan Chandra Saha against four thousand taka (Bangladeshi currency) in 1975. Md. Shahidulllah, in 1978, purchased the same land from Mannan, at 25, 000 taka. When he was asked of the need to acquire the land after so many years and all of a sudden, Md. Shahidulllah termed the reason as personal.

But this narrative has failed to impress Hindus who described Md. Shahidulllah as a pathological liar and the entire campaign as fallout of a graver conspiracy. There is no doubt in it that lots of Hindu families either in the district of Narayangunj or its vicinity have been uprooted within a span of last few months in this manner. And in most cases local Muslim leaders of Awami League act as complicit. What has been the role of local police and administration then? Studies reveal that in most cases police is found to abet such a crime in hope of good shares or mere profits. Even if a few police officers try to investigate honestly and help Hindus to get justice, they are either transferred or have to earn wrath of local parties. In this case, Hindus claim that Islamists are found to sing in a common tune.
