Villages in Sandeshkhali PS under communal attack; united resistance by victims prompts police action

In the morning of 31st August, a mob consisting of Muslim miscreants attacked and destroyed several shops and severely beaten the shop owners in Sarberia area of Sandeshkhali police station in North 24 Parganas district. Mr Bhombol Pramanik and his son Bapi Pramanik from Charabidya village were severely injured in these attacks. When police failed to control the situation, RAF has been deployed. But RAF too were attacked by the Muslims.4 RAF personnel were injured and one police vehicle was fully damaged. Over a thousand strong mob roamed the adjoining areas of Sarberia, Rajbari and Agarati while communally provocative announcements blared loudly from the loudspeaker’s Rajbari Purbapara mosque.

Those on the receiving end of the attack felt terrorized in a manner reminiscent of attacks in Deganga where properties belonging to the Hindus were attacked and looted by Muslims from neighbouring villages while the police looked on helplessly. In recent times, local criminals previously owing allegiance to the CPI(M) have promptly switched sides after the TMC came to power and have continued to receive political patronage. Consequently, their criminal activities have continued unabated with the police unable to stop, arrest or even restrain the criminals, which include leading gangsters of the area like Shahjahan Sheikh, Shahjahan Gazi and others.

During this recent attack, the victims had limited options, either to engage in a bloody fight with the criminal gang or migrate away from their hearth as many have done over the decades across Bengal. On the following night, the pillaging continued and the shops of Kamal Bisoyee and Milan Bisoyee were attacked resulting in a loss of goods worth 7 lakhs. Following these, the local Hindu community seemed to have mustered courage to register a protest. They were shocked to find that the SDPO of Basirhat police station, Mr Abhijit Banerjee, instead of controlling the situation, tried to break the evolving resistance by threatening to arrest Mr Narayan Paik on the pretext of narcotics (marijuana) cases to be slapped against him. The following day on 1st September, suffering Hindus decided to thwart further attacks upon them by organizing a resistance. In Janapara village, local youths kept tight vigil and chased away a mob of miscreants while in another village it was Rapid Action Force (RAF) that thwarted the advances of the rampaging mob. In the late night, the Circle Inspector of police came to the village of Nalkaraand assured the local Hindu youths that stern action to be taken by the police as and when necessary and requested them not to be provoked by rumours.

It appears that the development of resistance amongst the Hindus for appropriate retaliatory and defensive measures in case of further attacks prompted the police to take note of situation. Eventually the police arrested a total of 18 persons, nine from each community. TMC leaders Mr. Ranjit Das indirectly and TMC Panchayat Samity (Sandeshkhali Bl.-1) Sabhapati Smt. Aparna Halder openly pressurizing the police to arrest Mr Narayan Paik and other leaders who resisted the attack.

Protesters thrashed mercilessly

Kumargunj under the jurisdiction of P.S. Tamluk, Block: Tamluk, District: Midnapur (East) experienced a brawl between two religious communities leading to a violent clash around 5 pm on September 9, 2013. It has come to knowledge, the problem started when a few Muslim youths asked a Hindu trader of Kumarganj market to either close down or relocate his shop to somewhere else to make their own club there. Dipankar Das, owner of the shop and also a supporter of Trinamool Congress, denied the offer flatly ensuing a heated argument. Dipankar was also joined by a few people soon and he decided not to give up. Finding it hard to deal with Dipankar, Muslim youths went back to their area only to return with more rowdies. While the fracas was in full swing, someone struck Dipakar with a rod. He fell on the ground and fled. But others supporting him then were not spared. They were beaten black and blue with all kinds of blunt instruments.

Four in the crowd supporting Dipankar got injured as a result. They include Gokul Adak (age 50), Surya Maity (age 45), Rabin Maity (age 45), Prashanta Maity (age 45). The inhuman thrashing raised an alarm in the locality and finding more people advancing to save aforesaid people, culprits fled. Injured persons were shifted to local primary health center and then to the city hospital. Enraged Hindus blocked the road for a few minutes as a mark of protest but it ended soon due to police interference. RAF has also been deployed to maintain law and order in the area but no efforts to arrest the miscreants led by Rohul Amin Gain, Abdul Hamid Gain, Sheikh Farid Ali and Julfikar Ali (all workers of Trinamool Congress) into custody have been witnessed. These are four dreaded rowdies and also identified as accomplices in the crime. But police and administration is more interested to admonish local Hindus.

As per fresh reports, police refused to accept any letter of complaint from Hindus and the shop of Dipankar has been seized forcefully by now.  Many incidents in recent times demonstrate that the Hindus cannot expect any justice or equal treatment in East Medinipur district under present TMC regime as it was in the past Left Front period.

Political jubilation panics villagers of Kanaidanga, Hooghly

The jubilant march of activists and supporters of Trinamool Congress on August 25, 2013 after successfully forming the Panchayat board at Bhagabatipur under the jurisdiction of Chanditala police station in Hoogly district turned into havoc for villagers living in Kanaidanga. The village comprises a sizable number of Hindu Barga Kshatriya families who belong to the scheduled castes and are known to be CPM supporters in the neighborhood. It has been learnt that initially there was no plan to enter the village of Kanaidanga. The decision was taken later on by Haji Rabiul Mollah (Kanu) who is enjoying high status of a strongman in TMC these days. The march was being led by Mohan Bag and Srikanta Bag while Haji was in the forefront.

Once the procession entered Kanaidanga, crackers were burst and it appeared as if the vitriolic participants were all set to carry on mayhem. Within a couple of minutes, the residence of Panchkari Bag was targeted and both his wife and niece were reportedly molested. Seeing further advancement of the march, local Hindus apprehended more dangers and stood up to resist it. But their resistance was foiled by local police who forced the Hindus to remain behind doors while the miscreants freely roamed in the area. It has been learnt that the Muslim rowdies were not from Kanaidanga but were brought from somewhere else and this development has panicked villagers.

School students in Kaliachak thrash headmaster for molesting parateacher

BaisnabnagarHigh Schoolis located under the jurisdiction of Kaliachak police station in Malda district of West Bengal. On 9th September a group of students attacked its headmaster Mr Obaidur Rahman (age 50) for reportedly abusing and attempting to molest Ms Aparna Singha (age 35) who is also a teacher of the same school. The event started on 4thSeptember when Ms Singha was asked to visit the headmaster’s chamber. During the interaction, she alleged that Mr Rahman abused her verbally in sexually explicit languages and then attempted to molest her while she pleaded to be left alone. Although she could not leave initially, the headmaster relented eventually and allowed her to leave. After this, she rushed to the teacher’s room and informed her female colleagues of the torment. She was asked to remain silent for the time being. But her colleagues’ best efforts to suppress the incident failed and reports of Aparna’s attempted molestation spread across the neighborhood.

Not only did this become the talk of the town, a lot of folks found the incident obnoxious and worthy of protest. Some were even found to describe the event as “enough is enough.” Following the event, the headmaster remained absent for the following three days while Aparna continued to go to school. Then on 9th September while the school started as usual, Obadiur Rahman asked Aparna Singha to visit his chamber again apparently to settle the crisis. However, during the interaction he grabbed one hand of Aprana and reportedly tried to molest her again. Somehow, she managed to save herself and ran to the teacher’s room. The latest set of assault enraged all and then a large number of students barged into the headmaster’s chamber to protest the harassment of Ms Singha. A heated argument ensued and once the headmaster refused to listen to them, students in throngs attacked him.

Obadiur Rahman was manhandled, beaten heavily leading to a pandemonium and the school was then closed. Police officials and other responsible persons of local administration promptly visited the school. Ramkrishna Mandal, secretary of BaisnabnagarHigh School, also visited the spot and soon got engaged with police and administrative officials to find a solution and normalize things. Following the incident, the injured headmaster was sent to the local primary health centre and then referred to the district hospital for treatment.

Bithi (name changed) is 23 year old wife of Purna Ghosh (name changed) and resident of Dhapdhapi village under Baruipur police station in 24 Parganas (South)) district. On 1st August she was raped and murdered by a gang of criminals while returning with her girl child Mrittika (name changed) to her residence at 8 pm. During the incident, three of the criminals encircled her all of a sudden and grabbed both mother and daughter in a flash. They were then taken to Dakshin (South) Barasat area where Bithi was raped while an assailant named Salauddin poured acid on her face. Later on, the same culprit Salauddin took Bithi to Baruipur Sub-divisional Hospital and phoned Tarak, brother of Bithi who lives in Dakshin (South) Durgapur and informed him of the development. Hearing the news Tarak along with other family members rushed to the hospital to find Bithi lying dead in a pool of blood. When questioned by police, Tarak confirmed that Salauddin was the main conspirator behind the event. According to Tarak, Salauddin used to regularly harass Bithi before her marriage and that he was cautioned by Tarak and his brothers to leave her alone. Based on complains by the victim’s family, Salauddin along with his accomplices Ramzan Mandal, Abdul Mandal and Nazir Mandal have been arrested by police. An FIR 86/13 dated 03.08.2013 under sections 302 and 342 IPC have been lodged against them.  According to police, Salauddin initially poured acid on Bitihi’s face to conceal her identity but later changed his mind and to prove his innocence, phoned Tarak.

Surge in cases of sexual abuse against women in Bengal as administration goes slow on attackers

Sexual abuse and assault of women has become a regular affair in the Indian state of West Bengal. While people’s anguishes against the government for not doing enough to protect women are rising steadily, the government prefers to retain a strange silence. The actions of the government as well as ground reports suggests that in a majority of cases, the attackers belong to Muslim community whereas the victims are Hindus, leading to deepening resentment among the victims who allege that government inaction is only to secure minority votes. One of many such victims is 16 year old Sujata Mal, daughter of Biswanath Mal, resident of Maheshpur village in Jangipara police station, Radhanagar panchayet under Hoogly district. Sujata was a bright student of Dwarhatta Rajeswari GirlsHigh School in Class IX. Both her parents were manual labourers and in spite of impoverished conditions, they struggled hard to provide her daughter with the best quality education they could afford. But what the family has got in return was her half-nude, slain body that was found on 15th September from beside a channel. The dead body had started to decompose and has been sent to Kolkata Medical College for a forensic examination. Irate villagers blocked the road for hours in protest. Belated appearance of police in the spot added fuel to fire and only after police assured villagers that criminals would be arrested soon, the roadblock was withdrawn. While investigations are still going on, the villagers opine that the case is a conspiracy hatched against unfortunate Sujata by someone from the neighboring village of Parbatipur. This village is inhabited by people from both Hindu and Muslim communities and is known for frequent inter-community clashes in the environs.

Madhabi Ghosh, resident in the village of Kaosate under the jurisdiction of police station of Baduria in the district of 24 Paraganas (North) committed suicide on 15th September after being molested by a few inhabitants of the same village including one Firoze Mandal, who goes by the pseudonym Genesh as per information from local sources. It has been reported that the entire plan was designed by Nurjahan Bibi, another resident of Kaosate, with an intention to size land and property of Madhabi who was managing the distillery business of her husband. It has been learnt that on 15th September a group of people who were later identified as Muslims rushed to her residence in the evening, forcefully brought her out and molested her in public. Madhabi committed suicide later on. However, no information of whether police is handling the case has been found yet as local Hindus find it too risky to fetch information from Kaosate.

The entire municipality of Baruipur in the district of 24 Paraganas (South) is aghast now following the molestation of a young girl in the crowded area of Bypass at the junction of Padmapukur and Qazipara on 17th September in the evening. It has been learnt while the girl was walking with three of her female friends she was molested by an unknown man. But there was no protest as the molester was too quick to be caught. Only when the girl rescued herself and informed her relatives, the reality was comprehended. According to locals, molester was not alone; he had been seen to talk to some other persons. But none of them could be seen following the attack.  The victim girl works in a nursing home in Baruipur and invited three friends on the occasion of Viswakarma Puja. An official complaint against two local miscreants Bubai Sheikh and Battu Gazi has been lodged by her to the local police station. None has been arrested yet.

Basanti apprehend violent communal clashes

0

Basanti in South 24 Paraganas district is seething with communal tensions and apprehension that violent altercations may take place between Hindus and Muslims is getting higher. To get the reality it is crucial to delve into a few pertinent facts. Sometime back, local Hindus wanted to construct a permanent structure to the Harisabha temple in Basanti market and had started to raise the requisite funds to cover the cost of construction. Even if lion’s share is being managed by Nemai Saha, president of Harisabha Temple Committee, there is the need of more. The Temple Committee, hence, decided to lease a portion of its property worth 2 bighas located few yards away from the temple. The Committee members also decided to lease a bank of the pond within the land and as per the Committee’s resolution, 12 shops of Hindus only would take place in the bank. The construction of 12 shops is going to end soon. On the opposite side of the pond, especially beside the PWD or Basanti to Bharatgarh main road, the pool of Bappa Dutta exists. While the temple uses the pool’s water to serve its religious purposes, territory behind it had been sold to Muslims where around 10 shops owned by Muslims exist. On 10th August, 2013, it was found that one of the shops had already been changed into butchery and only beef was being sold. This event caused great distress to the religious feeling of the Hindus in the area. However, to have an amiable solution, the secretary of Harisabha Temple Committee Mr. Narahari Das asked the Muslim shop-owner to address the sensitivity of the Hindus and relocate the business elsewhere. But he refused to do so. This was followed by the request of a group of committee’s members but there was no success at this time too. To prevent any communal disturbance, committee lodged an official complaint to the local police station of Basanti and also asked Kausar Ali, BDO, to stop it.

Both BDO and O.C. of Basanti police station assured committee members that no such activity, potent enough to vitiate communal harmony in the locality, would be allowed. But all these noble assurances fell through as the business went on as usual. Being disillusioned at administration’s repeated failures and also feeling the pressing need to stop the butchery, Hindus started a signature campaign. A letter of protest with signatures was submitted to the District Magistrate while its copies were sent to other officials in the local administration. Hindus were gritty to have a legal triumph at this time and owing to their continual petitions, Surat Ali who is the owner of butchery, was detained by P.S. Basanti on the morning of 14th September. But within the next two hours Muslims went to the police station in crowds and forced police to release Surat Ali. While returning from the police station, Muslims created a victory march where highly provocative slogans like “Allahu Akbar”, “Nara-e-Takbir”, “Basanti bazare goru kate cholche cholbe (slaughtering of cows will go on in Basanti market)”, “Pakistan Zindabad”, “Hindustan Murdabad” were chanted. Apprehending danger, general meetings were organized on both 15th and 17th September that witnessed spontaneous participation of hundreds of Hindus. The meeting emphasized need of a strong Hindu unity and formed a local committee containing more than hundreds of Hindu members. Nevertheless, Hindus are being warned frequently by Muslim rogues to stop the temple project and allocating shops for Hindus behind the pool. One can get a hint of the outcome of these warnings by the events that followed on 18th September when a violent clash occurred between Samir Ali Sardar and Bholanath Debnath in Rupa Tailors located at Basanti market. Samir Ali Sardar asked Bholanath, worker in the garment shop, to show a few shirt pieces. No garment was selected and while returning those, derogatory words against Hindus were used by Samir Ali. Once Bholanath protested it led to a brawl. While Shyamal Saha and a few others joined Bholanath, Samir Ali Sardar was joined by his brothers and friends. Its intensity was such that police had to intervene ultimately. Although the clash ended for the moment, both groups were seen to warn each other of dire consequences. As per people in the area, this is a beginning only and will be followed by severe communal clashes right away. Hindus have formed “Hindu Jagaran Samiti” to ensure their own survival in Basanti.

Schoolgirl’s accidental death turns Ukiler Bazaar, Kakdip into a communal battleground

The death of 15 year old Class X Pritisha Maity, student at local Rajnagar Srinathgram Banividyapith due to a car accident on 27th September at 9.30 am in Ukiler Bazaar area of Kakdwip in South 24 Paraganas district is an unfortunate incident. However, the communal clashes that ensued and its escalating intensity testify how far the social relation has been vitiated. Following the accident, Pritisha was taken to nearby Kakdwip hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. The news infuriated local people and as a result, they devastated the vehicle liable for the accident. Meanwhile, a few Hindu youths from Kakdwip went to Ukiler Bazaar and blocked the thoroughfare there to protest. Tyres, along with parts of a desolate van were also burnt to strengthen the protest and vent anger. Some youths even went to Namkhana to protest, all of which confirm that the protest was spontaneous, devoid of any communal overtone.

Meantime, the protest at Ukiler Bazaar remained unabated with little sign of decline of public ire. Faulting tiny shops along the roadside as the main reason for mounting car accidents, many of them were brought by the enraged mob. In the ensuing rampage, three shops owned by local Muslims were also put down. The road blockade led by Nityananda Dolui ended at 5 pm only after police assured them that traffic system in the area would be improved soon. The withdrawal failed to restore peace as the rumor that Nityananda and his friends would be lynched in public for destroying three shops of Muslims started spreading like a wild fire; that the shops were illegally built meant little to the opposing party. As expected, the very next day Nityananda’s residence was ransacked in wee hours of 28th September. The attackers unable to find him or any male member cruelly thrashed his ageing mother.  His shop was also raided and closed forcefully. It is alleged, the raid was led by Nurul Ghazi. The vengeance however did not die with the raid on Nityananda’s house. On the same day, at 2.30 pm, one liquor shop of Laxmi Ghorui became the next battleground. A few Muslim youths went there for drinking and exploiting the absence of Laxmi, three of them tried to rape her daughter Ashtami (age 12) who was there all alone. To save herself, Ashtami screamed making Laxmi and neighbours rush to the shop. Even if the rogues tried to flee, they were grabbed soon and stamped out. Later on, they were submitted to local police who are now admitting overtly that law and order situation is worsening steadily in the area.

Another victim of Love Jihad recovered from Jalpaiguri while police drags its feet in taking action

Archana Biswas, 17 year old daughter of Haridas Biswas, is blind and lives in the village of Uttar Mahakalguri of Shamuktala police station in the district of Jalpaiguri. She is a student of Class VIII at Shamuktala Girls’ School and is known to be a polite, decent girl in the neighbourhood as well. She got introduced to 19 year old Amjad Ali living in the village of Barokata of Shamuktala police station following the marriage ceremony of a girl from Amjad’s village into her native place at Uttar Mahakalguri. Amjad used to frequently visit Uttar Mahakalguri but feigned as a Hindu to endear himself to Archana. During his encounters with Archana, he also promised to marry her come what may. On 20th September, 2013, it has come to knowledge that Amjad asked Archana to visit Kamakhyaguri under the jurisdiction of the police station of Kumargram. Back home after failing to notice her, Archana’s relatives and neighbours started an intense search to find her. Soon the entire episode of Archana’s contact with Amjad became known and those in the know-how of the episodes, which included residents of Amjad’s village, identified Archana’s contact as none but Amjad Ali. However, no official complaint could be lodged in Shamuktala police station as the case had already been handed over to Kumargram. A police team from Bhatibari, which is a police outpost of Kumargram station, went to Barokata seeking whereabouts of Amjad or his family members. In order to facilitate Archana’s return, the police officials asked Amjad’s neighbours to inform the concerned family of the case’s intensity and the potential for communal confrontation with members of Hindu community angered by the incident.

Debtan Roy, the person in charge of Kamakhyaguri outpost, has already confirmed that Archana has been recovered around 3 am on 25thof September but he is not ready to consider this as a case of kidnapping, even though Archana is a minor! No official complaint of Archana’s family has been accepted by the police officials yet. Instead, the hapless parents of Archana are being warned of not to speak out against this incident and help reduce culpability of Amjad Ali. At the time of reporting, it has been noted that Amjad has finally be detained at Alipurduar while the girl has been returned to her family.

Innocent auto-rickshaw driver almost lynched in Bagda

On 19th September at around 11.30 pm, Makhan Sarkar (age 47), resident of Amdoba village under the jurisdiction of Bagda police station in the district of 24 Paraganas (North) was returning from nearby Helenchbazar in his own auto rickshaw. Makhan had gone to the market to listen to Baul or folk songs that are characteristic of rural Bengal. He was driving fast but midway at Malipota in Dhutraberia, he was stopped by 4 persons who happened to be his next-door neighbours. After Makhan asked them about the reason for stopping his vehicle, all of them pounced down on Makhan as if to kill him. The assailants were Banki Billa Mandal, son of Kousher Ali Mandal, Samsuddin Mandal, son of Rezzaq Mandal, Mafizul Mullah, son of Syed Ali Mullah, Ramjan Ali Mir, son of Moniruddin Mir. It has been learnt later on that the attack was neither a spontaneous act of any provocation nor an attempt to rob Makhan but a carefully executed plan to murder him and seize his auto rickshaw. With this end in view, the four culprits dragged Makhan out of the vehicle and started beating him mercilessly with iron rods. Not a single portion of his body was spared and he got heavy injuries on both eyes and shoulders as a result of the attack. As blood poured out of his eye, the thrashing on innocent Makhan went on. At this time iron rods were replaced by bamboo sticks and his throat was also squeezed to asphyxiate him. Innocent Makhan started crying for help that fell on the deaf ears of the assailants. Fortunately for Makhan, hearing such a desperate call at late night, a few people of the area rushed to the spot. They included Ranjan Mallik, son of Bijoy Mallik, Pintu Sarkar, son of Kartik Sarkar. Apprehending danger, the four culprits left the spot but after looting Rs. 2500 from Makhan and breaking window pane of the vehicle.

Makhan Sarkar was admitted to Bagda hospital where he underwent fast medical treatment but his condition continued to worsen and at the time of reporting, he remains in a critical condition fighting death. But what astounded all was the indisposition of police to lodge a complaint and only after many deliberations only a general diary was filed. The development infuriated the local people and activists of Hindu Samhati requested police officers to lodge an FIR but no one among the police considered it as essential. Only when police officials were reminded that only a diary may aggravate situation in Malipota, known for frequent communal clashes and deployment of RAF forces to quell those, a change took place. Finally, an FIR no. 628 under 341, 325, 379, 427, 349 sections of IPC was lodged on 23rd September. But culprits are yet to be detained while Makhan Sarkar writhes under a critical condition in the Bagda Hospital.

Another love jihad turns nightmare as victim returns to parents home bruised, beaten and tortured in Gazole, Malda

Baby Debnath, 29 years old lady and daughter of late Haren Chandra Debnath, is a resident of Arjunpur village under the jurisdiction of police station of Gazole in Malda district. The following is a harrowing tale of an innocent girl who has joined the bandwagon of unfortunate girls betrayed by the saga of love jihad. According to her own testimony, Mahbul Alam, son of Habiruddin Sarkar inhabiting the same village, promised her a job seven years back from today. Under his sway she went to several places under one false pretext or the other. She was also compelled to gratify his carnal desires that led to her pregnancy. When Baby confronted her with her situation, Mahbul assured to marry her and also to let her follow religion. Within the next few days, a nikahnama (Islamic marriage) took place where her name was changed to Baby Sultana without her own knowledge! But when she gave birth to a girl child dashing Mahbul’s hopes for a son, life quickly turned into a hell for her.

Mahbul Alam, unlike her previous experiences, appeared as a tyrant now. He brushed aside his solemn promises made before marriage and asked Baby to convert into Islam. This was just the beginning and with each passing day, this pressure continued to rise. Whenever she refused to convert to a Muslim, Baby was thrashed mercilessly. Mahbul was equally helped by Maleka Bibi, Mahbul’s mother, and the joint atrocity knew no bounds for poor Baby. At last, she gave in and agreed for conversion. But this accord failed to impress Mahbul; he was more interested to dispose of Baby. He planned to take Baby to another state and sell her off to the flesh trade. When Baby heard Mahbul to discuss this secret plan to someone in telephone, she refused to accompany him. Thus began the second spate of inhuman torture for Baby and she was completely devastated both mentally and physically. It was around 10.30 pm on 25th May when Mahbul started to batter Baby with a large wooden stick that had thorns made of iron. She sustained heavy injuries but even this failed to evoke any sympathy; Mahbul went on admonishing and even attempted to strangulate her. She was also told to consume poison and free Mahbul. To save herself, shattered Baby Debnath returned to her paternal residence next day after a gap of several years. She was admitted to Gazole hospital by her relatives. Later, a formal complaint was lodged by her against Mahbul Alam to the police station of Gajol demanding justice. But no interrogation has taken place yet as Mahbul Alam is an influential leader of Trinamool Congress in the locality.

Police fails to arrest Mohammed Allatali Gayen of Rajbari Purbapara, Sandeskhali, after failed sexual assault bid

0

The savage bid of Mohammed Allatali Gayen to molest Joba Mandal, wife of Sishukumar Mandal, has lead to deep resentment among their neighborhood. The victim is 30 years old and resident of Rajbari Purbapara under the jurisdiction of Sandeshkhali police station in the district of South 24 Paraganas. And the persistent unwillingness of police to initially register the couple’s complaint against the culprit has intensified the anger. Sishukumar is a vendor by profession. On 25th September, Sishukumar returned to his residence from local crematorium after midnight. Because of strong emotional tussle after cremating a close relative along with the hard labor that comes with his job, he got asleep soon. Abiding by the Hindu custom, he was in veranda while Joba was inside. At around 1.30 am, Mohammed Allatali Gayen who is son of Kouhar Gayen and infamous for his licentious conducts, entered Shishukumar’s residence in search of Joba. But once he tried to cross Sishukumar, the later grabbed his garment. Sishukumar would later narrate to his neighbors that he had always been suspicious of Allatali’s behavior and hence he kept under a close watch for him. After being caught unawares, Allatali put up a tough fight. In the ensuing tussle, Sishukumar managed to loosen Allatali’s garments which compromised his ability to continue the flight and the attacker started to flee.

But Sishukumar raised an alarm, hearing which the neighbors rushed to the spot and advised Sishukumar to lodge an official complaint against the culprit at the local police station as well as the local administration including panchayat. But what awaited the affected couple at both centers was nothing but a grave disappointment. While local police station, especially its Sub-Inspector Jayanta Ghosh refused to lodge an FIR and registered a general diary of No. 1253 dated on 25th September, local panchayat assured them of dealing with the matter soon. It must be stated that the police initially asked Sishukumar and Joba whether they would like to lodge an official complaint. And after the couple agreed, police refused to abide by their request later on. Sadly enough, it was not to be the end of their harrowing experience. The affected couple narrated their painful experience to neighbors and later on due to pressures of local Hindus, police filed an official complaint (No. 448  on 1st October). Allatali Gayen is yet to be arrested while an intense search for him is apparently going on.

An altercation on a minor issue soon turned ugly on the day of Maha Saptami , 10th October, in Narkeldanga area of Kolkata. It started when a few Muslim youths approached the Milan Sangha puja committee at Narkeldanga main road and instructed the members to stop the microphone during their ensuing namaaz.  Their posture and demeanour was unusually aggressive, which infuriated the members. The matter aggravated further when a police sergeant forcefully stopped the microphone; very soon the defiant members of puja committee turned it back on and continued to telecast the mangala stotram. As the time of namaaz was drawing nearer, Muslims youths went to the Narkeldanga mosque but after an hour they were found to approach Milan Sangha puja committee once more. The same group was joined now by a large number of Muslim youths armed with weapons including sticks, swords and daggers. Very soon they began to pillage the puja pandal. While the deity was stoned, the priest suffered severe injuries. Apart from desecration of deities, mangalghat or the sanctified pitcher was also crushed by the assailants. The en masse protest by Hindus to this communal conflagration led to a fury that was checked by hour-long efforts of police. But the police did not have any sigh of relief as turbulence erupted again in the day ofVijaya Dashami on 15th October in the noon when two unidentified Muslim youths riding a red-colored motorbike threw bones of cows to the puja pandal. Even if the officer-in-charge of Nakeldanga police station collected bones fast and made best efforts to retain communal harmony, tension is simmering in the locality.

According to locals, this is not any new development in this area; however, there has been a surge in communal clashes in recent times and this year has seen its ugliest manifestation. The communal flare-up was not limited to an isolated zone in Narkeldanga; the Durga Puja pandal of Amra Sabai club located at 7/4, Chamu Singh Lane, had to take on threats on Maha Ashtami by local Muslim youths, hell-bent to stop use of microphone during namaaz. A problem which could have been solved amicably stirred up the neighborhood leading to overt clashes between Hindus and Muslims. Albeit the situation was brought under control through a persistent police force, the locality continues to simmer under communal tensions.

Hindus waging desperate struggles in Basanti, Sandeshkhali

The following is a heartrending narrative of the condition of Hindus inhabiting No. 7, No. 9, No. 10 and No. 11 Kumrakhali villages under the jurisdiction of police station of Basanti in South 24 Paraganas district. The fierce disorder now prevailing in these villages commenced on October 16 on the day of Bakri Id/Eid ul-Adha when a handful of Muslim youths forcefully closed down shops in Rampur Bazar under the authority of police station of Sandeshkhali. As the majority of shops there are owned by Hindus such an abrupt diktat angered them a lot. While they tried their best to convince the Muslim youths of the problems of shutting down shops and the consequentfinancial losses, nothing could be achieved. Meanwhile, the tension reached Sanfuipara in No. 9 Kumrakhali village and an altercation ensued between the Hindu and Muslim youths. The situation could have been checked but the attack on local and venerated Panchanan Thakur temple spoiled the remaining chances. Hindus reacted strongly and to stop them several Muslim thugs fired shots injuring several Hindu youths including Khagen Dolui.

Soumen Mandal, following the short fight, was approaching his residence in No. 7 Kumrakhali village in a motorbike. He was not alone; Khagen Dolui was also with him. Suddenly, they were attacked by Muslim youths in throngs at Pukurpar. The attack proved to be vicious enough; not only his bike was destroyed but both of them were badly thrashed. While severely harmed Khagen fled to No. 9 Kumrakhali village, Soumen fled to No. 7 Kumrakhali village to save HIS life. What followed next was nothing save for a desperate struggle of Hindus to save their own existence there.

But the situation refuses to end here. Thanks to political pressure to have Muslim votes, police has arrested 14 Hindus in two cases albeit their involvement remains doubtful. While in one case 31 Hindus have been accused in the FIR, the other case involves 3. Goutam Roy, reputed activist of Hindu Samhati from No. 7 Kumrakhali village has already been arrested by a team from the police station in Basanti. He, at the moment, is confined in the lockup of police station at Canning. On the word of locals, arrested Hindu youths had been thorns to Muslim hoodlums like Shahjahan Sheikh, Shajahan Ghazi, Sabdel Mullah, Gaffar Mullah, and the hoodlums were desperate to get rid of them. As expected, police has not detained Shaukat Mollah, local leader of Trinamool Congress, yet even if he stated publicly on October 17 at Sarberia Gorurhat that if police fails to apprehend Hindus, a large of exodus of Hindus will follow only.

"Every Hindu Must Take an Oath on This Sacred Occasion to Fight Against The Asuras (Jehadi Demons) of Today." ..

Tapan Ghosh..., President of Hindu Samhati

 --FULL MESSAGE BELOW--

SHUBHA DEEPAWALI !!!

On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, celebrating the home coming of Sri Ram and the slaying of the demon Narakasura by Sri Krishna, I convey my best wishes to all on behalf of Hindu Samhati.

On this hallowed occasion marking the TRIUMPH of Sacred over Evil, I have but one Prayer. I pray that all Hindus whose forefathers have been driven out of their homes by the Islamic aggressors from Afghanistan to Bangladesh, Kashmir to Assam or from any other part of Akhand Bharat, observe this day by taking a vow. Let us solemnly resolve that one day they will return to their ancestral home after defeating the Jihadi Ravanas of Kali Yuga - just like Sri Ram eliminated Ravan of Treta Yug and just like Sri Krishna eliminated the demon Narakasura of Dwapar Yug.

From Kamakhya to Dhakeshwari, From Kalighat to Kanyakumari, From Hinglaj to Durgiana, One Billion Hindus will be celebrating Deepawali by worshipping Devi Matrika (the Mother-Goddess). Let us all pray to Bhavatarini, the redeemer of the world, to protect the homelands of the Hindus from devastation, to save the honor of our women and provide strength to our youth. Let Shakti Devi provide us the courage to fight back against persecution.

We beseech Maha Kali for her invincible power and blessings so that we too can perform the same sacred duty she did while slaying the demon Rakta-beeja. We are yet to get justice in the hallowed grounds of Ramjanmabhoomi in Ayodhya. We have no movements to wrest full control over the most venerable temples at Mathura and Kashi, or the thousands of other Hindu pilgrimage sites that either remain desecrated or are under the control of the Jihadis. Let us pray on this sacred day to obtain justice for reclaiming these holy places.

Every Hindu Must Take an Oath on This Sacred Occasion to Fight Against the Asuras (Jehadi Demons) of Today.

And so we shall pray together to the Mother Goddess…

”Om asatoma sat gamaya, tamaso ma jyotir gamaya, mrityorma amritam gamayo”

Lead us from Falsehood to Truth
Lead us from Darkness to Light
Lead us from Death to Immortality

Vande Mataram

Minor girl goes missing from Shantipur, Nadia, FIR filed against suspect Shoaib Ali

Kaberi Kundu, 16-year old student of Saratkumar High School and living in Ward number 11 of Dokantala Shantipur under the jurisdiction of police station of Shantipur in the district of Nadia went missing on 24 th October and she has not returned to her residence yet. It has come to knowledge, Kaberi went to private tuition at 7 am on the same day and was kidnapped midway by Shoaib Ali. Shoaib is of 30 years old; he is the son of late Shamser Ali and lives in Ward number 12 within Durgatala Shantipur under the jurisdiction of same police station. Kaberi’s father and relatives lodged a general diary number 1293 on 24 th October but searching for her went on for the next three days. Once complicity of Shoaib Ali in the case was confirmed, the aghast family filed a First Information Report against him in the Shantipur police station on October 27 – First Information Report number 646/13 dated 27.10.2013.

Kaberi’s father received phone calls on both 28 th and 29 th October from a person who introduced himself as Abdul Karim Sheikh, a resident of Jangipur in Murshidabad and also the brother-in-law of Shoaib. He promised to return Kaberi on 29 th October within 11 am. Despite this was informed to the Shantipur police station, no approach has been adopted by the administration to find Kaberi out.

The role of Partha Roy who is Officer-In-Charge of Shantipur police station seems to be diabolical. To conceal his own inactivity as regards saving Kaberi from the clutch of kidnappers, especially Shoaib Ali, he has been found busy to make use of the canard of 'communalism'. Reportedly, he has advised a telephoner, anxious to know of Kaberi’s whereabouts, not to disturb him anymore since the girl’s father has no interest in recovering her. He said on record that 'it creates communal tension'. Hence the matter should be left out."

Nisha Hari goes missing with Mohammed Imran without knowledge of her parents in Hatiara, Kolkata

Nisha Hari is 16 years’ old daughter of Jitendra Hari and a student of Ananda Sundari Vidyalaya at Deshbandhunagar in Baguiati. She is a resident of Dakshin Math Subhaspalli in Hatiara under the jurisdiction of New Town police station in North 24 Parganas and is known as a modest girl in the vicinity. She went to the school on 8th October and had not returned to her home. The worried family was aghast over the absence of their daughter but left no stone unturned searching for her in all directions but no success has been attained. It has been learnt after lots of inquiries that Nisha has purportedly eloped with Mohammed Imran who is middle-aged and also the father of two children. Imran is the son of Mohammed Islam and living in Hatiara Ghuni and is a cab driver by profession. Local people consider Imran to be highly proficient in enticing girls and exploiting them thereafter. It appears that Nisha is his latest victim.  Albeit Nisha’s father went to the police station of Baguiati on 9th October with a few people, they had to remain content through filing a general diary No. 536 dated 09/10/2013. It appears that an important reason for police inaction is that the Sub-Inspector at the police station due to Abdul Kalam had tried his best to protect Mohammed Imran from the law. Nevertheless, he failed ultimately as locals went the police station in throngs and forced the police to file a First Information Report (FIR number 520/13 dated 09/10/2013 under sections 363 and 366 of Indian Penal Code). Hindu Samhati activists had phoned the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Rajarhat and thanks to his assistance, they met Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP – Airport Branch) along with Jitendra Hari who has assured them of all possible help. The appalled family is having sleepless nights at the moment in search of their beloved daughter.

Bangladesh : Genocide Now, Taliban Soon

 =========================
Bangladesh is on the road to becoming another Afghanistan, fulfilling the clearly stated desires of jihadists and fundamentalists, according to Bangladeshis who have fled their homeland.
-------------------------------------------------
Imams describe women as filth and demand that they cover themselves. They accuse exploited female garment workers of prostitution when they are forced to work late into the night to earn a living. Schoolchildren have to dress in Islamic garb, even if they are not Muslims. Workers are discriminated against if they are other than Muslim. Land grabs by Muslims of property owned by minorities occur all the time -- with impunity. Atheist bloggers are beaten and even killed for "insulting Islam," and all this under the supposedly secular Awami League administration.

The Hindu empire once stretched from Afghanistan to Indonesia, before the Muslim invasions whittled it down. According to Dr. Sachi Dastidar, professor of politics at the State University of New York at Old Westbury, Long Island, forty-nine million Hindus are missing from the Bangladesh census over the period of 1947 to 2001. At the time of the partition of India in 1947, Hindus comprised thirty-one percent of the population of Bangladesh. The population of Hindus in Bangladesh is now down to a mere nine percent. The numbers are shrinking very fast due to coerced conversions; the kidnapping of girls and women, as well as rapes followed by murder; forced flight -- and genocidal massacres.

In the near future, all the non-Muslims may be "ethnically cleansed" from Bangladesh. The world will have lost one more part of the globe to fundamentalists and gained one more staging ground for new attacks on the West.

The minority population in Bangladesh lives under constant fear of loss of life and property, especially in the countryside, where Muslim transgressions more easily escape being publicized.

Imagine this: You are a peasant farmer living in a thatched house in a remote area. You and your brother try to keep a vigil during the night, expecting another raid, since there have been frequent attacks on your neighbors. Men with torches come at three in the morning and set fire to your house, after dragging out your wife and two daughters, ages nine and thirteen. You must fight alone, because your brother was mutilated by the same men in a previous raid. All his fingers were cut off, and his right leg was amputated at the hip so that he would suffer lifelong humiliation as well as disability.

You are beaten and bound, forced to watch the gang-rapes of your wife and daughters. Your house and all your possessions are burned beyond use.

Your wife and daughters are afraid to file a complaint with the police, because they know that the police usually do not prosecute the attackers -- and they may even turn on the victims. (All this, to say nothing of having to bear the shame of being sexually violated.) You have talked with your neighbors about mounting a stronger defense against the frequent attacks, but all of you feel demoralized, knowing that scores or even hundreds of armed men have descended on others like you to punish you for having the temerity to fight back.

You consider fleeing with your family but do not want to give up the land that has belonged to your ancestors for hundreds of years. But if you stay on your land, which is the only life you know, you may very well be killed.

Such is life today in Bangladesh for Hindus, as well as for all the other minorities: Buddhists, Christians, atheists, and animists. The details of this sketch are all too real. They were culled from photos and verbal descriptions of the persecution of the minorities compiled by a human rights organization of Bangladeshi Americans, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council.

The Bangladesh Unity Council will meet on November 20, 2013 in Washington D.C. with the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Hopefully this time they will see results, since the same group has been meeting with other U.S. officials since 1999 without any sign of improvement.

An immediate concern is the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh, because in this aspiring democracy, ironically, elections bring fresh new pogroms against the minorities.

This is not to say that every Muslim in this Muslim-majority country participates in or accepts these atrocities. On the contrary, there are Muslim intellectuals who write frequent articles decrying their country's slide toward sharia and jihad.

The international press, however, has barely noticed Bangladesh's descent into fundamentalist hell, and the threat it poses to world security.

Worldwide attention and political intervention may be able to help slow down this disaster. But that takes time. Most immediately, however, support is needed to stop the ongoing genocide. To meet immediate needs for survival, non-violent physical assistance to protect endangered communities must be considered.

Communal hostility over fishery in Sandeshkhali, woman assaulted but saved by heroic efforts of husband

Achintya Bhowmik and his wife Sujata Bhowmik own a fishery conjointly in the village of Bermojur Hatkhola under the jurisdiction of Sandeshkhali police station in the district of South 24 Paraganas and the couple is known as amiable in the environs. However, both their amiability and economic strength became eyesore to a few local gangsters and with the end to seize the entire property from the couple, the same felons attacked the fishery at 2 am on November 5, 2013. It has been learnt, culprits including Hasanur Ghazi (son of Kousar Ghazi), Motalef Ghazi (son of Jubbar Ghazi), Rezaul Ghazai (son of Rezzaq Ghazi), Habibullla Sheikh (son of Kasem Sheikh), Salauddin Ghazi (son of Yakub Ghazi living in Bermojur Madrasapur) entered the tract silently first and asked Achintya to come out from the makeshift room used by the couple to guard the piscary.  Terming them as petty businessman, Sujata asked them to collect fish and go away. But Hasanur was not in a mood to be cowed and hence, he asked Achintya once more to come out. Sujata, at this time, stated that Achintya was not in the room and taking it as the best opportunity, the group barged into the room or the couple’s small shelter.

The gang tried to strip and rape Sujata first. To save themselves, Achintya also counterstriked Hasanur and soon, both of them fell into the fishery. Sensing danger three culprits fled but it was Motalef who attacked the couple with a sharp knife and Sujata was injured viciously. In due course, Achintya overpowered Hasanur and fastened both of his hands with a saree of Sujata that Hasanur and his henchmen tried to strip her of. Later on, in the morning, Achintya brought Hasanur to the market where the gangster was thrashed by people en masse. Hasanur Ghazi has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata and as per latest information, his condition seems to be critical. An FIR was filed against Achintya Bhowmik and a few others by local Muslims – First Information Report No. 495/13 dated 07/11/2013 under sections 341/325/307/34 Indian Penal Code. Achintya also lodged an First Information Report against the aforesaid members of the gang – First Information Report No. 494/13 dated 07/11/2013 under sections 474/325/307/34 Indian Penal Code. However, no criminal has been arrested yet.
